So what does this mean?
Well, like the New York Times noted, it does not negate the blatant partisan gerrymandering in some states. We see it in maps in Texas and Georgia -- and the fact that Alabama's congressional map discriminates against Black voters.
But it does mark progress. Here's why.
This is a big win and a testament to the impacts of this grassroots movement to end gerrymandering. But as President Obama said, the fight for fair maps is not over.
