I'd like to say something about the debate last night.

 ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

I’d like to say something about the debate last night.

I heard and I respect Senator Harris.

For my entire career, I’ve fought my heart out to ensure that civil rights, voting rights, and equal rights are enforced everywhere. These rights are not up to the states to decide. They are embedded in our Constitution. And, the federal government has a duty to protect the civil rights of every single American. That has always been my position.

That’s why I ran for Senate in the first place.

But the discussion in this race today shouldn’t be about the past. It should be about how we can do better and move forward and give every kid in this country an opportunity to succeed. That means good schools in every neighborhood. No child’s future should be determined by their zip code.

Right now, we have a president who promotes hate and division -- and has encouraged the poison of white supremacy.

I will be a president who stands against racism and the forces of exclusion and intolerance everywhere in our society -- in our institutions, in our voting booths, and in our hearts.

We have to get Donald Trump out of office. I’m ready to keep fighting. And DianeA, I hope I can count on you to be by my side.

I’ve proposed tripling funding for Title I schools -- to eliminate the disparities between rich and poor school districts. We’re going to increase teacher pay and make sure every 3- and 4-year old is in pre-K.

I will reinstate the policies we pushed during the Obama-Biden Administration to finish the work of desegregating our schools -- because we have a national interest in creating diverse student bodies.

We have to make sure that we keep moving closer to the idea of the America that lives in our founding documents.

We hold these truths self-evident. That all men -- and women -- are created equal. It’s an idea we’ve never lived up to. But we’ve never walked away from the idea of equality either. And we cannot afford to walk away from it now.

Barack Obama was a president our kids could -- and did -- look up to.

We need that again. I hope I can make you proud.

Thank you for your support,

- Joe

The biggest bang for your buck

The path to 270 electoral votes is narrow. Because Trump is an incumbent, he already has a leg up. But we can't -- and we won't -- let him win.

DemocratsJoin us.
Donald Trump is essentially running unopposed right now.

Since he officially kicked off his 2020 reelection last week, he's raised over $30 million -- that's in addition to the more than $150 million he and the RNC have already racked up since he started running on day one of his presidency. While our strong slate of Democratic candidates is working hard on the campaign trail, Donald Trump is prancing around the country spewing more lies and false promises.

Here's what I know: Competitive primaries are expensive. Without a strong DNC in place for the general election, our chance of winning back the White House and electing Democrats up and down the ballot in 2020 is toast.

We have to keep pace with Trump's campaign and the RNC now in order to make sure our eventual presidential nominee is in the best possible position heading into the general election and Democrats are in a place to take back seats across the country. That's why I'm asking: Can you chip in $3 to the Democratic Party before Sunday's end-of-quarter deadline?

Democrats have little room for error in 2020 and the path to 270 electoral votes is narrow. Because Trump is an incumbent, he already has a leg up. But we can't -- and we won't -- let him win.

Tom Perez and his team at the DNC are working day and night to win in 2020. They're investing in training organizers for battleground states, a world-class data and technology infrastructure, and a War Room that is constantly holding Trump and his Republican allies accountable.

Whether or not the DNC is able to hit its fundraising goal on Sunday will determine if those programs are fully funded or not. I am counting on you.

Support the awesome work the DNC is doing to send a message to Donald Trump and Republicans that they're running against the strongest, most committed grassroots movement imaginable.

Can you make a $3 donation by Sunday at midnight to support the Democratic Party?

Thanks for supporting our party,

Dan

Barack Obama agrees: You should donate to the Democratic Unity Fund ahead of Sunday's end-of-quarter deadline →

An investment in the Democratic Unity Fund -- no matter how big or small -- is an investment in the success of our eventual presidential nominee and our fight against Trump and Republicans.

DemocratsJoin us.
I am asking you to make your first contribution to the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund ahead of this Sunday's pivotal end-of-quarter deadline. Before you settle in to watch the first Democratic primary debate tonight, I hope you'll let me share exactly why your support matters so much before this deadline and what your donation to the Democratic Unity Fund will help make possible for Democrats in 2020:

Just last month, President Obama unveiled the Democratic Unity Fund, a revolutionary effort by the DNC, Democratic presidential candidates, and supporters to unite around our common goal of electing Democrats at every level, from the state house to the White House. The Democratic Unity Fund is already beginning to power critical investments in the strong DNC infrastructure we'll need to win in 2020. But it won't be in place unless we consistently reach important fundraising goals like the one we've set for this quarter.

This quarter's fundraising goal is ambitious, but it's the benchmark our party must meet in order to fund crucial 2020 programs, organize early in battleground states, and build the strong voter protection infrastructure we'll need to fight for every vote. If my math is right, our party needs 72 Democrats from Montross to contribute in order to reach Sunday's goal. That's why I've got to ask:

Will you donate $3 to the Democratic Unity Fund before Sunday at midnight to help elect our eventual Democratic nominee for president and candidates across the country? Your support before this end-of-quarter deadline couldn't be more important.

An investment in the Democratic Unity Fund -- no matter how big or small -- is an investment in the success of our eventual presidential nominee and our fight against Trump and Republicans. By donating to the fund before Sunday, you'll play a key role in funding vital 2020 programs like these:

THE DNC WAR ROOM

The DNC War Room is a battleground states-focused research and rapid response unit made up of dozens of research, communications, and mobilization experts entirely dedicated to kicking Trump out of the Oval Office in 2020. The War Room is a hub for state parties, candidates, and activists that lifts up the stories of the real people most devastated by Trump's disgraceful policies. By holding Trump accountable, we'll be able to help keep his poll numbers low and make sure he stays a one-term president.

BEST PRACTICES INSTITUTE

One of the four pillars of my candidacy for DNC chair was to build the DNC's first-ever Best Practices Institute, a centralized training hub for Democrats at every level. From first-time activists to industry leaders, the Best Practices Institute runs comprehensive trainings designed to help build successful campaigns and win key races nationwide. In 2018 alone, the BPI held over 90 in-person and webinar trainings. Our Best Practices Institute is strengthening the Democratic Party infrastructure to ensure success in 2019, 2020, and for years to come.

DATA AND TECH IMPROVEMENTS

Improving Democratic tech and data has been one of the DNC's top priorities since 2017, which is why our party has brought in top tech talent, invested heavily in cybersecurity, and begun rebuilding our data infrastructure to give all our candidates best-in-class tools. The Data Warehouse is the centerpiece of the Democratic Party's massive effort to overhaul what was once a crumbling data infrastructure. The Warehouse is improving access to voter data and unifying our efforts across the entire progressive ecosystem, putting our candidates in the best position possible to target voters and win elections up and down the ballot.

Thank you for taking the time to hear more about what your contribution will help fund. As you watch the first debate tonight and tomorrow, know that your investment in a strong DNC will help elect one of our incredible Democratic candidates in the fight against Trump and will have a tremendous impact on the outcome of the general election. Our party will be as strong as the support we receive from generous Democrats like you, so I'm urging you to be one of the 72 Democrats from Montross we need to make a donation before Sunday's deadline.

Contribute $3 to the Democratic Unity Fund before Sunday's end-of-quarter deadline to help our party reach our goal so we can take back the White House and seats nationwide in 2020.

Thank you for being a part of this team. It means the world to me, our entire team at DNC Headquarters, and to the future of this country.

Tom

Tom Perez
Chair
Democratic National Committee

P.S. Over the next couple of days, you'll hear from our impressive slate of Democratic candidates. There is so much to do to prepare for 2020, and we can't afford to wait until we've chosen our nominee to shift our efforts into high gear. Donate $3 ahead of Sunday's deadline to elect Democrats nationwide.

How we can fix a broken system in Florida

If we want to help Floridians and folks across the country secure their voice, we need to end gerrymandering. Chip in today to support All On The Line.
All On The Line
Team --

When I ran for governor of Florida last year, at the heart of my campaign was a really simple but important idea: Every single citizen should have an equal voice in our government.

We lost a close race, but that doesn't mean our movement didn't make progress. Florida voters overwhelmingly passed Amendment 4 with 64.5% of the vote -- a great, grassroots-led effort that took Florida's voting rights laws out of the Dark Ages and restored voting rights to 1.4 million disenfranchised formerly incarcerated individuals who had served their time.

Nothing more was needed to make Amendment 4 the law of the land.

Yet, over the past few months, the gerrymandered state legislature has twisted Amendment 4, tacked on restrictions, severely threatened who will actually be able to get their voting eligibility back ... and Governor Ron DeSantis has said that he will sign their bad bill into law.

It's unacceptable and an insult to every Floridian who stood up for Amendment 4.

If we want to fix broken systems in Florida and states like it, we need to end gerrymandering and elect politicians that actually respect the will of voters. That's exactly what All On The Line is working on -- and it's why folks like President Obama, Eric Holder, and myself support them. Chip in to help All On The Line:

This isn't unique to my home state.

It's a nationwide epidemic. We have gerrymandered state houses and congressional districts that are so brazenly partisan that the elected officials who represent them don't even pretend anymore. They pass extreme legislation. They stop holding town halls. They don't look for common ground. They have no interest in listening to their constituents.

It's time to change things.

I believe in the All On The Line team. I believe in their plan to train local activists and get organized in communities across the country. I've watched as they fire people up about this fight to end gerrymandering, and educate citizens on how important the 2020 Census will be.

They're going to make it happen. But if we're going to change Florida -- and help fix our democracy nationwide -- we need grassroots support. Chip in to help All On The Line:

Re: Obama's announcement

Open this email for a recap on the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund.

DemocratsJoin us.
A little over a month ago, you got an email from this guy:

Barack Obama

President Obama proudly unveiled the DNC's Democratic Unity Fund, a fund entirely dedicated to electing our party's eventual presidential nominee and winning up and down the ballot in 2020.

Democratic Unity Fund

The response from this grassroots team was incredible. 17,293 people have donated to the fund already, and that number is still growing. Our party's big news made a lot of headlines, too.

CNN: 'Obama announces DNC's 'Unity Fund' to back party nominee'
BUSTLE: 'Obama Launches A DNC Unity Fund To Help The Democratic Nominee Beat Trump In 2020'
THE HILL: 'Obama announces new DNC unity fund'
We even tweeted about how exciting -- and how important -- the Democratic Unity Fund is for our party. Take a look:
@TheDemocrats on Twitter:

President Obama is right. No matter who earns our nomination, she or he will need a strong, united, and well-prepared DNC ready to lift them to victory the moment the general election starts. So, I've gotta ask:

Can you donate $3 to the Democratic Unity Fund today to help elect Democrats from local office to the Oval Office in 2020?

Thank you for stepping up,

Tom

re: President Obama's email

Winning in November won't happen on its own.

DemocratsJoin us.
President Obama sent you an exciting email about the Democratic Unity Fund. Did you see it?

Barack Obama's Email

In his email, President Obama unveiled the Democratic Unity Fund, a fund entirely dedicated to electing our eventual nominee for president and supporting Democrats all across the map. He called on you to contribute to the fund to invest in the strong party infrastructure that Democrats nationwide will need to win up and down the ballot in 2020. Today, I'm asking you to answer that call:

Will you donate $3 to the Democratic Unity Fund to support our eventual nominee for president and Democrats in all 50 states?

President Obama is right -- I'm not just saying that because he's my former boss. Whoever voters choose as our eventual Democratic nominee will rely on a strong, united, and well-organized DNC ready to spring into action the moment the general election begins.

Winning in November won't happen on its own. It will require all of us coming together to chip in what we can -- through emails just like this one -- to build a strong DNC infrastructure. President Obama asked you first, and now I'm asking you for your support again. Will you step up today?

Make a $3 contribution to the Democratic Unity Fund to help elect a Democrat to the White House and win seats nationwide. This fight won't be possible without your support.

Thank you for being a part of this important work.
