→ Multiple states will hold elections to fill seats on their highest courts. These elections will have an impact on a whole host of issues we care about – including reproductive freedom and LGBTQ+ rights.
→ Upcoming elections in Virginia will decide control of the state legislature. They'll determine whether Virginia keeps building on the progress they've made on issues like voting rights and gun safety, or sees that progress rolled back.
The outcomes of elections like these will have massive consequences for our democracy, Diane, so we cannot afford to sit them out.

In a brazen affront to democracy, Ohio's redistricting process has reached a new low. The proposed state legislative maps, unveiled by conservative leaders, are an audacious power grab that tramples on the principles of fair representation. IF: …we allow this to stand unchallenged; we endorse an alarming precedent. The House map doles out an unconscionable 62 Republican districts, leaving a mere 37 for Democrats. Similarly, the Senate map serves up 23 Republican districts to just 10 for Democrats. This is a stark departure from Ohio's diverse and closely divided electorate.
THEN: …we must act decisively. The time for complacency is past. Last week, the Republican-led Commission gave the public less than 48 hours to respond in public comment meetings. This is a deliberate attempt to stifle the voice of the people.

FIRST:
Ahead of the 2022 midterm elections, grassroots supporters like you powered the NDRC's fight to help secure fair maps across the country. In fact, according to the New York Times, last year's election took place on "the fairest House map of the last 40 years."
THEN:
Earlier this summer, the Supreme Court struck down Alabama's map for violating the Voting Rights Act, requiring a new, fair map be put in place before the next election.
According to experts, the ruling could impact maps in more states across the country, including Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Texas, and others.

With the upcoming redistricting action, there is a real path to the 2024 elections taking place on maps that are even fairer than the maps we helped secure in 2022!
