I'll be completely honest with you: Today, the DNC looks massively different than it did in the wake of the 2016 election. That's a good thing. In early 2017, we were rudderless. Between the hack of the DNC and losing an election to the most unfit person to ever run as the nominee of a major party -- not to mention losing trust among grassroots activists, donors, and our elected leaders -- it was obvious we had to rebuild our party from the ground up. That meant investing in talent and long-term infrastructure, like data, technology, and organizing, and rebuilding trust with Democrats across the country. And that is exactly what our new leadership did. When I joined as chair, I made it my goal to learn from the past and to listen to the grassroots to rebuild this organization into the strongest DNC in modern history. The Democratic Unity Fund is a critical piece of that strategy and a vitally important initiative to defeating Donald Trump in 2020. The fund, announced by President Obama, serves to provide a major launchpad for Democrats at all levels -- now including presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. By scaling up critical organizing and data programs early, the DNC can give the Biden campaign -- not to mention Democrats running for seats nationwide -- the well-resourced operation they'll need to compete with Trump and the GOP's reelection machine. As of today, we're still behind where we need to be to fully support the Democratic Unity Fund ahead of Thursday's FEC deadline. So, I must ask: If you can, please make your first $7 contribution directly to the fund to help close the gap for Democrats up and down the ballot. If every person reading this message pitched in even a modest amount, we could get back on track ahead of Thursday's deadline -- the very first FEC deadline of the general election.
