| I have two things I need to share with you, friend, but I don't want you to panic. Because as bad as this is going to sound, we have a plan for getting things back on the right track.
The first thing is this headline from Mother Jones: "Republicans Are Erasing Decades of Voting Rights Gains Before Our Eyes" The second thing is what A.G. Holder said to CNN's Wolf Blitzer a couple of weeks ago: "This is a very troublesome time. I thought that after the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act... we seem to be on an arc that was moving toward greater inclusion when it came to voting. But I think we have certainly seen that reversed over the course of the last couple of years."
Scary stuff, right? But like I said, the NDRC has a plan: ➞ Fight as hard as we can to support getting the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act on President Biden's desk for his signature ➞ Speak out against voter suppression in the states ➞ Continue working on the ground in more than a dozen states to prevent Republicans from gerrymandering, which compounds the harm of voter suppression Will you pitch in to help us execute this plan, friend?
Look, I know sometimes things can look bleak. But I promise you that the NDRC will NEVER stop fighting and NEVER stop heeding the words of President Obama, who said that "I believe activism will prevail over cynicism."
