I wrote this out just for you

STAGE 1 → STAGE 2. my actual handwritten notes.

Hey friend, to help you understand where we are in the execution of the NDRC's redistricting strategy, I wanted to remind you of the phases of our work.

Let me flesh this out for you: In Stage 1, we helped elect 10 governors and flip dozens of state legislative seats, supported the creation of independent redistricting commissions (IRCs), and educated the public and policymakers about the importance of fair redistricting. We accomplished a lot together in Stage 1, but our fight didn't end there.

We are now in Stage 2. But before I dig in further, I want to say that we really couldn't have gotten to this point without folks like you chipping in to make our efforts so far a success. On behalf of the entire team, thank you -- will you chip in again (or for the first time) now to assist with where we are in Stage 2?

Here are my notes from a recent strategy session about Stage 2:

→ Analysis of proposed maps.
→ Mobilization of people in favor of fair maps and against gerrymandered ones.
→ On-the-ground organizing.
→ Testifying before redistricting committees.
→ Supporting plaintiffs in lawsuits as necessary.
→ Supporting federal reforms.

In other words, a lot. So we were really proud when President Obama recently said, "[The NDRC has] been the difference between not just victory and defeat, but between a fair shot for the American people and a system that cuts the American people out."

The first few months of redistricting have been fast-paced and filled with both wins and challenges. But with many more states to go, including some critical swing states, I have to ask: Will you help us make Stage 2 of our strategy as successful as Stage 1 and fight to END GOP gerrymandering?
