We couldn't agree more with President Obama. With our democracy at risk, we need to work as hard as humanly possible to make sure it survives for future generations. Here at the NDRC, we're well aware of the threat — so here's some highlights of what we're doing about it: - Working to help elect pro-democracy candidates. To date, we've endorsed 14 Democracy Defenders who understand how important it is to ensure our democracy thrives in the future. And with the attacks on our system of government ramping up, officials like them could be our last line of defense.
- Defending and expanding access to the ballot. Many in the GOP have been rolling back voting rights for a long time, and their efforts have only escalated in recent years. That's why we're working to help make sure everyone understands their rights and pushing for increased protections for voting access.
- Stopping election deniers from taking over election infrastructure. Election deniers are working to corrupt the pool of election workers and administrators with partisan activists who wanted to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Stopping them is critical to ensuring the survival of our democracy.

Diane, I want to share an example of how our voting rights can be gradually eroded over time -- and how we can stop it. Across the country, states have considered almost 400 voter suppression bills in 2022. The most extreme measures are often targeted and defeated early on. But those extreme bills also make somewhat less extreme bills seem reasonable by comparison. It's an insidious trick, and a deliberate one: Flood the zone with lots of anti-voting rights bills, and hope one of them sneaks through. Fighting back against this strategy requires constant vigilance -- and that's where we need your help.
