Diane, I'll keep this brief.

Donald Trump has already shown that his administration will flout the Constitution, the rule of law, basic principles of ethics, and common sense -- and he hasn't even taken office yet.

If he thinks we're going to sit back and let him do it, then he's got another thing coming.

But in order to hold Donald Trump accountable every day he's in office, our party needs to be at full strength on Day One.

So I'm coming to you again, one last time in 2016, to ask you to chip in $3 or more to support Democrats. This end-of-year deadline couldn't be more important.

We must rise, Diane.

Diane, 2016 has been a tough year for the Democratic Party.

But with our end-of-year fundraising deadline on the horizon, we have an opportunity to finish this year on a positive note. Every penny we raise before the new year will put our party in a better position to elect Democrats all over the country and fight against what's coming from Donald Trump, his administration, and Congressional Republicans.

As I reflect on this year and our party, I can't help but think about one of my favorite Maya Angelou poems -- we've faced turmoil and tasted defeat, but we are not broken. And we can't sit around with our heads bowed and eyes lowered, Diane.

We must rise -- because when the final votes were tallied, we saw that more Americans believe in our values and ideals. So we have to stand strong for what we believe in -- now, next year, and every year afterward. Too many people are counting on Democrats for us to give up now.

My hopes are still springing high. If yours are too, then pitch in $3 or whatever you can before tomorrow's end-of-year deadline:

Thanks so much, Diane -- and happy New Year to you and your family.
