My 'Bama Says: June 2023

Diane, earlier this month our movement for fair maps received incredible news when the Supreme Court issued its decision in Allen v. Milligan. The Court reaffirmed the Voting Rights Act and affirmed a lower court decision striking down Alabama's congressional map for unlawfully diluting the political power of Black voters.

But unfortunately, I have to be the bearer of some bad news: The GOP's efforts to undermine our elections aren't going anywhere.

"There's no reason to expect that voting rights' opponents will drop their attacks as they seek to maximize the power of white majority voters."

Republicans are as determined as ever to use anti-democratic tactics like gerrymandering and voter suppression to silence voters – especially voters of color.
