Speak up for stronger overtime protections

Organizing for Action
Diane --

This is a big day for millions of middle-class workers. The Obama administration just took a crucial step to restore overtime protections to millions of hard-working Americans.

The new rule will double the threshold for overtime pay, bringing it to $47,476 -- meaning that more people will qualify for overtime pay for the extra hours they work. The rule also extends overtime protections to 4.2 million Americans who are not currently eligible under federal law, and will boost wages for workers by $12 billion over the next 10 years.

Say you support the new rule -- add your name now in favor of expanded overtime protections.

Paying people fairly for the work they do should be a no-brainer. Because of this new rule, more people will be compensated fairly for the hours they put in, meaning more American families will gain the security and peace of mind that comes with a fair paycheck for a hard day's work.

This is important movement forward, but there's still work ahead to ensure that all Americans have the same economic opportunity.
