Birth Control

Today, the administration announced their rollback of the federal rule requiring employers to include birth control in their health insurance plans.

Diane --

This administration just announced they are rolling back the Obama administration's rule requiring employers to include birth control in their health insurance plans. This rule's benefits are profound -- from contributing to the lowest levels of unintended pregnancy in 30 years, to saving women $1.4 billion in its first year alone -- and pulling it back is a flat-out attack on the fundamental right of women to choose when and whether they get pregnant.

This move means that a woman's access to birth control through her health insurance can again be regulated by her boss if her employer has a "moral" objection to it, getting rid of the guarantee that women had birth control coverage regardless of who they work for.

This is unacceptable. Millions of women might lose the birth control benefits they now receive at no cost. Women across the country -- especially young women -- will be forced to choose between paying for contraceptives or paying for other basic necessities.

It's just the latest example of this administration's attempts to undo the progress we've made in making our health care more affordable and accessible -- and more fair to women. But as we've done for months now, OFA volunteers and supporters will continue to push back against discriminatory actions like these that put health care out of reach for too many Americans. We need your help to support this work:
