Add your name - say you support the Clean Power Plan
![]() | |
| Diane -- The moral obligation to act on climate change has never been clearer. We've already seen record storms and droughts, heat waves, floods, and wildfires. And this extreme weather is only going to get worse if we don't act to protect our public health and future generations. In advance of the international climate negotiations coming up in Paris in December, President Obama is making sure that every country commits to doing its fair share to cut carbon pollution. Here in the U.S., that means adopting the Clean Power Plan, which places the first-ever limits on carbon pollution from power plants. Unfortunately, climate change deniers and big polluters are already trying to stand in the way of that progress. We can't let that happen. Add your name to say you support the Clean Power Plan. Earlier this week, several senators introduced bills that would not only block the Clean Power Plan, but could block any similar carbon pollution standards for power plants permanently. Climate deniers are risking too much, and we can't accept it. Stand up for strong action on climate change -- support the Clean Power Plan now: https://my.barackobama.com/Support-The-CPP Thanks, Jack Jack Shapiro Director of Policy and Campaigns Organizing for Action | |

Diane, here's why I'm proud to be a Democrat
| Diane -- There is another Republican debate tomorrow night, and I feel pretty bad for the fact-checkers who have to keep up with these candidates when they start to talk. Part of the reason these GOP presidential hopefuls have to say such crazy stuff is because they don't have real records to run on. Diane, we've got so many things to feel good about in this country, and it's a shame when I hear the GOP candidates try to make people feel bad or scared, talking down to the country because it serves their politics. But what I heard during the first Democratic debate, and over the last few months from our outstanding candidates, is an optimistic vision about where our country can go if we set aside the politics of obstruction and fear mongering and instead roll up our sleeves and get to work. That's why it's so important that we have committed supporters like you, Diane. And today, I'm asking you to pitch in a donation of $3 or more to help us get to our goal of 30,000 grassroots donations by the end of the month and keep laying the groundwork for 2016. If you've saved your payment information, your donation will go through immediately. QUICK DONATE: $3 QUICK DONATE: $10 QUICK DONATE: $25 QUICK DONATE: $50 QUICK DONATE: $100 Or donate another amount: https://my.democrats.org/October-Goal If we work together, there is no problem we can't solve. I really believe that. We've got more work to do, and we Democrats are the ones with the right ideas to get that work done. Next November, I will be proud to stand with our nominee to help that person become our next president, and between now and then, we all need to invest in the party that is making our next electoral victory possible. Add your name to tell Paul Ryan: Expand paid family leave
![]() |
| When Representative Paul Ryan agreed to become the next Speaker of the House, he made one thing very clear: That he would prioritize time with his family even as he assumed this new position. And Diane, that got me to thinking about how very important family is -- and how far behind our country is when it comes to supporting choices like that of Paul Ryan. With our current policies, the United States ranks among the lowest in the world on paid leave -- according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 12 percent of American private-sector workers have access to paid family leave through their employers. As the President noted during his 2015 State of the Union address, "We are the only advanced country on Earth that doesn't guarantee paid sick leave or paid maternity leave to our workers." And because of that, we put working parents in the position of choosing between staying at home with a sick child and keeping their job. While folks like Paul Ryan are afforded the choice to spend time with their families, the vast majority of Americans are not. This is clearly unacceptable -- and it's time for a change. As Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan has a valuable opportunity to help make that change happen. If you agree that more Americans deserve the chance to put family first, add your name to tell Paul Ryan to make his first act as Speaker calling a vote to expand paid family leave: http://my.democrats.org/Expand-Paid-Family-Leave Thank you so much, Diane. We want to fly you and a guest to our next debate
![]() |
| Hey Diane -- You know, some folks might think that Las Vegas, where our first Democratic debate was held, is more exciting than Des Moines -- but I'm here to tell you otherwise. Because not only is Des Moines the home of our second Democratic debate next month, it's the capital of a state that all eyes in our nation look toward during presidential elections. Being in a place like Iowa, where voters will play such a key part in electing a Democratic president next year, and seeing our candidates on stage and in action is so inspiring to me. They're working hard to champion the policies that will drive our country forward, and there's just nothing more exciting than that. Except maybe this: You have the chance to take in their efforts firsthand. We're going to fly one Democratic supporter (and a guest) to Iowa to be on the ground for our second debate. So, Diane, I'm not just being rhetorical when I ask: Are you interested? If so, chip in $3 or more right now and you'll be automatically entered for a chance to win. If you've saved your payment information, your donation will go through immediately. QUICK DONATE: $3 QUICK DONATE: $10 QUICK DONATE: $25 QUICK DONATE: $50 QUICK DONATE: $100 Or donate another amount: https://my.democrats.org/Join-Us-at-the-Debate I know our candidates would love to hear your cheers out there in the crowd in Des Moines -- so don't miss this opportunity. Good luck! Anu Anu Rangappa Senior Advisor for General Election Strategies Democratic National Committee |
