Friend -- If you've ever thought about becoming a field organizer, here's how some of the best organizers out there got their start: Every summer, a crew of organizing fellows drives our local efforts on the ground. They're the ones who build the volunteer teams and carry out the grassroots outreach that helps people step up and have a say in our country's politics. And there's going to be a whole new crew for this summer. Some good resumes have come in for these positions already -- we're just now starting to look at them. If you're interested, but you haven't sent in yours yet, you should submit it right away. Apply now to be a summer organizing fellow -- or pass this email on to someone you know who might be interested. If you take one of these positions, you'll get to learn the ropes of field organizing and start to build up your experience. You'll be doing real, rubber-hits-the-road work, like getting people together for phone banks and voter registration drives where they'll help get others involved, too. You'll recruit new volunteers and train them, and you'll get folks where you live fired up for November. It's a chance to get in on the frontlines -- and you could choose to be stationed in your hometown, or you could take a spot in a battleground state to make a difference where it counts the most. These positions are unpaid, and the hours can be long, but ask anyone who's done it before, and they'll tell you that the experience is more than worth it. So if you're interested, get your application in early: http://my.barackobama.com/Summer-Organizing-Fellow Thanks, Jeremy Jeremy Bird National Field Director Obama for America |
