President Obama serves on 9/11

In January 2013, you signed up to learn more about volunteering and making a difference for the country.

The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is your opportunity to make good on that pledge.

This September 11th, volunteer and engage with your community to honor the victims and survivors of 9/11.

Here are some other ways for you and your family to get involved:

  • Tweet about your day to @ServeDotGov with  the hashtag #911Day
  • Connect with other volunteers and help your friends find volunteer opportunities on Facebook
  • Remember 9/11 by sharing a good deed

The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance is the culmination of an effort originally launched in 2002 by 9/11 family members and support groups and led by the organization MyGoodDeed. These individuals and organizations worked to establish the service day as a way to honor those who were lost and to rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion that followed the attacks. The September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance was established into law by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act in 2009, and furthers President Obama's call to service, United We Serve.
