Diane -- Axios was right when they predicted that this round of redistricting will be "chaotic."

Politico reports: Republicans "have total control [over redistricting] in the seat-rich states of Texas, Florida and North Carolina. But those same states are also brimming over with some of the most unpredictable demographics, including Latino voters and affluent suburban voters."

Help us hold map manipulators accountable

We often say that gerrymandering means that politicians pick their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians. As they try to manipulate the maps this year, Republican politicians will pick the voters who they think will elect them for the next decade. Their plan worked after 2011's map-drawing, as we saw unearned majorities obstruct President Obama's agenda.

The GOP is fighting for maps that favor them and only them. We're fighting for fair maps for all. And with redistricting likely happening on a tighter timeframe than usual, we need to be ready for anything they throw at us, in state after state.
