I'll be blunt, Diane. We are at a crucial turning point for democracy in states like Ohio and across the nation where anti-democracy legislation threatens the will of the people and important redistricting reform. In Ohio, a column on Cleveland.com observes that 'Forcing a major constitutional change onto a low-turnout ballot violates centuries of Ohio norms."

The way I see it, there are two outcomes, but only one option will protect Ohioan's freedoms and voting rights:

OPTION 1: Conservative legislators pass anti-democracy amendment HRJ1/SJR2, which would limit the people's ability in Ohio to amend the state constitution and give more power to special interests and extreme politicians.

Or

OPTION 2: We fight back by urging state legislators to oppose the anti-democracy amendment, HJR1/SJR2, and protect Ohioans' ability to participate and have a say in our democratic processes through citizen-led ballot initiatives.
