Could Glenn Youngkin be the next Ron DeSantis?

Diane,

FIRST, despite Florida being the nation's largest swing state, gerrymandering helped Republicans seize a supermajority in the legislature.

THEN, Governor Ron DeSantis used that unearned power to pass some of the most extreme anti-choice, anti-voting, anti-immigrant, and anti-LGBTQ legislation we've seen – and he's using that record to fuel his presidential ambitions.

NOW, new reporting from POLITICO indicates that Governor Glenn Youngkin wants to replicate the same strategy in Virginia.

POLITICO: Glenn Youngkin eyes total control in Virginia. Youngkin, who hasn't entirely closed the door on running for president, could use total control of the state legislature to pass a conservative agenda in a blue-leaning state.

When our grassroots movement helped Democrats take full control of Virginia for the first time in decades, we saw significant progress on issues like reproductive freedom, fair redistricting reform, voting rights, and more. But if Glenn Youngkin and his MAGA allies get their way, they'll turn back the clock on all of our gains.

And it's not just in Virginia. At this very moment, Republicans in states like Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania are also working to overturn the victories we've won for voting rights and fair maps.

With Republicans across the country engaging in an unprecedented effort to undermine free and fair elections, our options are to (1) Give up and let the GOP get away with it, or (2) Get fired up and continue doing whatever it takes to defend our democracy.

Don't forget: President Obama has already warned us that "the gains we've made . . . are fragile." That means our only real choice is to continue fighting.

The NDRC will never give up on this fight, Diane. If you're with us, will you donate now?
