The presidential debate stage

The future of our democracy won't be secured by winning one campaign.

Diane:

This week, the eyes of the world will be on the presidential debate stage. I know a little something about what that's like and what's at stake, and I can't wait to watch President Biden make his case to voters that he's the only candidate who cares about protecting our pocketbooks and our freedoms.

At the same time, it's important to remember: Our success in 2024 requires more than just winning the presidency. We need to elect candidates up and down the ballot who will fight for every American, not just themselves and their wealthy friends.

What happens in state legislatures, state supreme courts, and in key ballot initiatives this year will shape our future — not just on critical issues like abortion rights and access to the ballot, but also who gets to draw electoral maps and who decides how fair they will be.

The future of our democracy is bigger than one campaign — and that's exactly why I'm working with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee to target top-priority races across the country.

Will you make a grassroots donation to the NDRC today?

We've seen how this country can slide backwards. Two years after Roe was overturned, some states are making it harder to access birth control. And as we wrap up Pride Month, it's important to remember that state legislators introduced a record number of anti-LGBTQ laws last year.

Given all this, it can be easy to feel cynical — to lose some of that energy that drives us forward. I'm so grateful for people like you who refuse to give up. You keep fighting for what's right, whenever and wherever it's necessary. That's something I'll never take for granted.

Right now, that means making investments and inroads in races up and down the ballot.

I believe that if we each do our part, we will look back on the 2024 election and say that this was the moment we stood tall for the future of our democracy. That starts with your grassroots donation to the NDRC today — pitch in to help power this work.

Thank you for your commitment to this movement.

— Barack Obama
