Good old-fashioned organizing

You can take concrete action to help continue strengthening our democracy nationwide.

Diane, we are not spectators to history — we are its makers.

I know it can be tempting to focus only on the next Election Day on the calendar. But every single day is an opportunity to change this country for the better. It's why, as president, I tried to challenge every one of us, as citizens, to take on the role of changemaker.

That's still so important today. And it's why I hope you'll join me in supporting All On The Line in their work organizing across the country.

Showing your support means so much, and makes a real difference. But a donation is about more than just the money. It means you have skin in the game. No matter the amount, even just $1 is a symbol of your commitment to building a stronger, fairer democracy.

The right to vote is central to everything we stand for in America.

But the power of our vote is not fully realized when extreme partisan gerrymandering essentially denies voters the right to a truly representative state government. And when legislatures aren't accountable to the will of the people, they feel emboldened to ram through unpopular laws — taking away things like affordable health care, reproductive freedom, and even basic civil rights.

And it doesn't end there. Gerrymandered legislatures will try to hold onto their unearned power no matter what, authorizing mass purges of voting rolls, erecting barriers to voter registration, and making it harder for regular folks to cast a ballot by closing polling places, reducing voting hours, and imposing draconian voter ID laws.

We don't have to let that happen. Each of us has the power to change this — by rolling up our sleeves and doing some good old-fashioned organizing. All On The Line has a plan to stop voter suppression and help strengthen our democracy, and we're not going to stop until we get there.

Let's all do what we can right now to achieve a fairer, stronger democracy. Will you make a donation to support their work?

We've got a lot of work to do, Diane. And I'll be right there alongside you.

Thank you,
Barack Obama
