Diane -- There's no denying it: Our economy has made some real progress following the great recession. A record streak of private-sector job growth, unemployment at 5.3 percent, millions of new jobs. The lowest uninsured rate on record, resurgent auto and manufacturing industries, a deficit cut by two-thirds -- the list goes on. But for all the progress we've made, too many people don't have the opportunity to share in that success. Last week, President Obama moved to update our nation's overtime rules -- a step that will extend overtime eligibility to nearly five million workers and help ensure that their paychecks reflect the hard work they are already doing. OFA is collecting comments on the path forward to fixing overtime protections. Add your voice today. Because of badly outdated overtime rules, millions of Americans still lack the security and peace of mind that comes with a fair paycheck for a hard day's work. Paying people fairly for their work isn't just the right thing to do. It's a common-sense way to extend a step up into the middle class -- and grow our economy, too. Our country works best when everyone who is willing to work hard is given the same opportunity to succeed, and it's up to organizers like us to fight for that principle.
