Add your name: tell the Senate to reject Jeff Sessions

Jeff Sessions' record says he won't protect your rights

Diane --

Confirmation hearings for Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees began today. First up is Jeff Sessions, Trump's pick to be Attorney General.

Sessions' history of racism cost him an appointment as a federal judge in 1986. Now, Trump wants to make him our nation's chief law enforcement officer.

While he testifies today, add your name to join Democrats and oppose Jeff Sessions' nomination to be Attorney General.

As a U.S. Attorney in Alabama, Jeff Sessions led the prosecution of three African American voting rights activists. He called the NAACP and ACLU "un-American" for their work defending civil rights. And when the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act, he said it was "good news" for the South.

In his twenty years in the Senate, Sessions backed the most extreme anti-woman measures. His votes to defund Planned Parenthood almost look like a drop in the bucket compared to his support for an unconstitutional federal abortion ban that would have criminalized some abortion services with no exceptions for the health of the mother.

He even voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act -- so it shouldn't come as a surprise that when Donald Trump talked about grabbing women by the genitals, Sessions rushed to his defense.

If he is confirmed, Jeff Sessions will be responsible for upholding our laws and defending our rights. But his record says he won't protect your right to vote, make your own reproductive health choices, or even live without fear of domestic assault.

Jeff Sessions is far too extreme to be Attorney General. If you agree, add your name and call on the Senate to reject his nomination:

Thanks for being part of this fight.
