Big news: with every state's initial congressional map now finalized, we can take a look at how the redistricting process impacted the congressional map overall.
We can safely say that a majority of Americans will see either a neutral or net improvement on the fairness of their congressional map as we head into the midterm elections.
But ahead of future elections, our affiliates are still fighting tooth and nail in court to redraw districts ahead of future elections that dilute the voting power of communities of color in states like Louisiana and Florida. All the headlines may be telling the story of a completed redistricting process -- and we are very close to a finalized 2022 map. But our work doesn't end there -- we have active litigation that can shape the 2024 maps and need to prepare for potential redraws in a handful of additional states.
