It's Pride Month, so I hope you'll take a minute to think about just how many of the barriers that have long stood in the way of progress for LGBT Americans have been torn down recently. Because folks like you fought for what they believed in, 37 states and the District of Columbia now recognize marriage equality.
Right now, we're closer than ever to fulfilling our nation's founding promise of equality for all. But here's the hard truth, Diane: While there is a lot of progress to be proud of, too many Americans still encounter discrimination and unfair treatment every day.
So I'm proud to still be in this fight for equality, Diane. Add your voice if you are, too.
I believe that all people deserve to live with dignity and respect, Diane. And I believe that we should celebrate how each and every one of us makes our nation stronger, no matter who we are or whom we love.
So, if you believe like I do, then add your name next to mine so we can keep fighting for equality together:
This is very important, Diane. Thank you so much for taking a stand with me today.
P.S. -- I'm heading to Beverly Hills later this month to meet with a group of supporters and I'd like for you to be one of them, Diane. Just pitch in $10 or whatever you can before midnight and you'll be automatically entered for a chance to meet me there.
