| Diane -- A couple of weeks ago, the Senate voted on whether to advance federal democracy reform legislation. Every single Democrat voted yes -- and every single Republican voted no. As A.G. Holder wrote to you, the vote showed once and for all that Republicans "are more concerned with retaining power than with protecting our most fundamental freedom, the right to vote."
But are we giving up on passing federal legislation to protect the freedom to vote? Absolutely not -- we're doubling down. Because if we give up, we lose what could be our last chance to keep America from heading down the path to Jim Crow and further erosion of our democracy.
