In the classroom

Diane --

I've been the Second Lady of the United States for nearly four years now -- but I've been an educator for more than 30. Four days after the inauguration, I was back in the classroom teaching.

Barack Obama knows as well as you and I do that a good teacher can change a student's life. That's why, when states were cutting their budgets and laying off teachers, the President took action to keep 400,000 educators in the classroom. And instead of waiting for Congress to act, he's providing states flexibility from the worst parts of No Child Left Behind.

We need to make sure Barack and Joe stay in office, and it could all come down to getting out the vote between now and when the polls close on November 6th.

There's still time to make a difference in this election -- but the window's closing fast. Volunteer to help get out the vote.

Our best bet for the future is investing in students, not making it harder for them to get an education. While our opponent would cut programs that support teachers and students alike, President Obama has already doubled funding for Pell Grants and put higher education in reach of millions more Americans. These are people who are now able to go back to school and get the job training they need, or be one of the first in their families to get a college degree.

We can't let that progress be undone.

Sign up to get out the vote, and let's keep moving forward:

Thanks for your hard work,
