Diane, you use the internet - add your name:

Organizing for Action
Diane --

When I was a kid, I had my own computer with dial-up internet. And it was SLOW.

If I wanted to load up an animated GIF of a cat before bed, I'd have enough time to go brush my teeth before it'd finish loading.

Those days are over. When a streaming video stops halfway through, something went wrong, and it feels like you're stuck in the 90s.

If some internet service providers had their way, hiccups like that would be normal -- and viewing videos uninterrupted at full quality could cost extra. They could get the power to give preferential treatment or block sites altogether.

That's what the fight for net neutrality is all about: They want to control how we use the internet. Say you support a free and open internet -- sign OFA's petition today.

Websites like YouTube or social networks like Facebook can only go as fast as big internet providers let them, and without net neutrality there's nothing to stop a company from slowing down some websites just to speed up their own.

That might seem like a minor inconvenience to some, but it would be a roadblock to future innovation.

That's why it was so exciting to see President Obama pledge his support for net neutrality and urge the FCC to keep the internet open and free.

Sign the petition to add your name to the fight:
