Friend -- Just before Thanksgiving, President Obama did something pretty great (and it didn't involve pardoning a turkey). Taking another giant step forward for public health and the environment, the President's administration proposed strong cuts in smog-forming pollution. This pollution is linked to lung damage, asthma, and a number of other health problems -- and these new air quality standards could have a huge economic impact. When you factor in missed work from sick days or caring for a sick child, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates this proposal could save up to $38 billion annually by 2025. It won't surprise you that the usual suspects and powerful interests are already lining up to try to stop President Obama's plan -- will you join the team standing up for clean air today? Clean air is something everyone should be able to get behind -- or so you'd think. Senator James Inhofe -- a leading climate change denier who is slated to head the Environment and Public Works Committee next year -- has already pledged to fight this in Congress, and big polluter lobbyist groups like the American Petroleum Institute have made it clear they're ready to pump plenty of resources into this fight. This isn't a hard decision to make: Either we believe in cutting back on pollution to keep our air clean, or we side with big polluters who are pretty used to getting their way in Washington. Take a stand alongside President Obama and tell the EPA you want clean air -- add your name today: http://my.barackobama.com/Fight-for-Clean-Air Thanks, Jack Jack Shapiro National Issues Campaign Manager Organizing for Action | |
