Diane, here's what the folks who know the GOP best said:

DemocratsJoin us.
Well, it's official, Diane: We watched 10 Republican presidential candidates debate last week, and it's about as bad as we thought it would be.

I have to admit, I was actually looking forward to watching this first GOP debate -- between all 10 of those guys, I knew there would be a moment or two that would make the rest of us laugh -- and they sure delivered. Unfortunately, we can always count on hearing offensive rhetoric, backwards policy ideas, and serious misogyny from this Republican field, and that was on display too (see: Donald Trump).

Diane, when we took a look at all the candidates running for president, we decided to ask the folks who know them best -- their constituents -- to fill us in on the need-to-know details, and now, I'd like to share some of their stories. Here's what folks in Florida, Ohio, and Kentucky shared about why we need to keep Jeb Bush, John Kasich, and Rand Paul out of the Oval Office.

Floridians on Jeb Bush:

He would be terrible for women. His shaming of single women who have a child, saying that welfare women should get a husband -- how about paying them a fair wage?... Republicans say they want less government, but at the same time they want to put government in our bedrooms. It would put women back in the dark ages if Roe is overturned. --Marion L., St. Petersburg

Next to Rick Scott, he's the worst thing that's ever happened to Florida. He ruined education, cut the budget to the bone for low income schools, allowed our environment to be polluted unchecked... --Theresa S., Wesley Chapel

Ohioans on John Kasich:

He balanced the state budget on the backs of small communities. Many are either in or close to fiscal emergency. He stripped these towns of state funding, took inheritance taxes away from them, and has just left them out to dry. --Kathryn H., Ravenna

Mr. Kasich will quietly try to bust up public unions, as he tried and failed here in Ohio. --Mark W., Rocky River

Kentuckians on Rand Paul:

Rand Paul thinks science is an opinion he can disregard at will. He's an embarrassment to the state of Kentucky. --Paige S., Louisville

What has he done for the state of Kentucky other than bashing the President? What has he done to help the working families other than promote himself? --Charles C., Frankfort

All you have to do is talk to a few locals to understand just how dangerous Bush, Kasich, Paul, and the rest of the GOP candidates are. That's why it's so, so important that we elect a Democratic president in 2016.

Diane, if you feel as strongly about this as I do, add your name to say you're committed to electing progressive leaders:
