Diane -- Ninety-five years ago today, the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was adopted, officially granting women the right to vote. Women's Equality Day is an opportunity to celebrate that important milestone that made the voices of so many more Americans heard. Winning the hard-fought battle for the ballot opened the door to more victories in ensuring our full and equal participation as citizens. Today, I am proud to serve alongside a historic number of women in the 114th Congress. And Democratic women's voices, especially, are being heard louder than ever: My colleagues are on the front line when it comes to fighting for access to health services, ending sexual assault on college campuses and in the military, and a range of economic policies that will benefit women and families. In 2012, Democratic women voters played a huge role in re-electing President Obama and ensuring that we had an ally in the White House who would protect the progress we've made. Women voters will make the difference in 2016, too, and this anniversary reminds us that the key to expanding opportunities for women lies at the ballot box. Diane, working to elect leaders who share our priorities is one of the most important things we do as Americans. I am proud that the Democratic Party is the party of equal opportunity for men and women, from fighting for paycheck fairness to ensuring the rights of women to make our own healthcare decisions.
