Diane -- After every heartbreaking mass shooting and act of day-to-day gun violence, we have asked for one thing from our country's leaders: action on gun safety. This week, we finally got what we've demanded for so long. President Obama's new executive actions will help reduce the gun violence that kills 88 Americans every day. These are meaningful actions and the President is doing his part, but there's more work to do. Thankfully, OFA and other groups around the country are standing up and demanding action on this issue from Congress. On Friday, OFA is hosting a call to bring supporters together to talk about gun violence prevention, and President Obama will be joining -- RSVP now. We have to continue pressing Congress and state legislatures across the country to act on common-sense legislation that protects our families. I know we can do this. In fact, we did the same thing around auto fatalities with sensible seatbelt laws that save lives. And we can tackle gun violence with smart and effective gun safety laws. I hope you'll RSVP for OFA's call with the President and, just as importantly, show your support for the President's new actions on social media and in your communities. My colleagues and I in the creative community will be doing our part as well. I can't wait to hear what the President says, and I hope you'll join me: https://my.barackobama.com/Hear-From-President-Obama My best, Julianne Moore | |
