Diane, I wanted to take a minute to explain how our strategy has evolved since our launch in 2017. (This might get long, so if you don't have time to read the whole thing but still want to support our work, please click here to contribute.) For the past five years, the NDRC has built an effective model for combatting GOP gerrymandering. By starting early, we helped shift the balance of power away from map manipulators, built a robust grassroots network demanding fair maps, and mobilized record-levels of public engagement in the redistricting process, leading to the fairest districts this country has seen in decades. But redistricting has always been just one piece of the puzzle for protecting our democracy. And as we see a well-funded right wing minority increasingly threatening our democratic system, we're applying the same successful model to help safeguard against both the threat of GOP gerrymandering and the anti-democracy forces trying to take hold in the states. What does this actually mean? It means tactics like: The races we're focused on will have an enormous impact on the future of fair redistricting, the freedom to vote, and fair elections. We're supporting candidates who have defended fair maps, holding Republicans accountable for gerrymandering, and helping elect officials who will block attempts to undermine our elections. But like all of our work over the past five years, our projects will only be successful with the support of our grassroots community. And with Election Day getting closer and closer we need to know you're on board so we can plan the next two months of work. So Diane, can A.G. Holder and the NDRC count on you to pitch in today and support our fight to defend our democracy?
