Very few people thought Democrats would be competitive in this year's congressional elections, in part because the president's party tends to lose seats in the first midterm after their election. But the NDRC's work to combat Republican gerrymandering – as well as SCOTUS's appalling decision to overturn Roe v. Wade – has helped to level the playing field.
We really can't overstate the importance of gubernatorial, secretary of state, and state legislative elections. Whoever wins this year won't just control the future of abortion rights, climate action, and other issues we care about – they'll control the future of free and fair elections!
