Let's unpack these quotes. According to The Washington Post, Republican gerrymandering could lead to Democrats being shut out of state legislative and congressional majorities for a decade or more. But that's if -- IF -- they're allowed to get away with map manipulation. And that's where you come in, Diane. President Obama believes we can do it. That's why he's exhorted folks over and over again not to take their eyes off the ball, saying that "with focus, persistence, and yes, a little bit of hope, I know we can put power back in the hands of the people."
The reality is that what we do -- what YOU do -- right now will determine which path we go down: the path where Democrats are locked out for a decade and Republicans take us further and further backwards, or the path where we keep fighting, keep the faith, and don't let fair elections die.
