| Friend, there are two roads before us. I call them "Colorado 2021" and "Texas 2011".
Colorado 2021
This is by far the better option. If we choose this path, it means giving our all to the fight against Republican gerrymandering -- including, yes, donating. It means helping to make it possible for more states to do what Colorado did: create a truly independent congressional redistricting commission (which the NDRC was proud to support), which enacted fair maps that were just approved. A huge success for the citizens of Colorado and the movement for fair maps.

Texas 2011 is what happens when people don't pay attention to the redistricting fight. Republicans ignored the principle of fairness and drew districts that gave them a lock on power for the next decade. The result was congresspeople who obstructed President Obama's agenda and backwards state laws that restricted voting access, undermined abortion rights, and in general, harmed Texans.
So we really don't want more states to go the Texas 2011 route in 2021!
But time is running out to get more states on the Colorado 2021 road. That's why I'm asking for your help today. President Obama said that "I believe activism will prevail over cynicism," but that can only happen if people like you take action NOW.
