|Republicans are trying to break the promise of support we've made to senior citizens by attacking programs like Medicare. Add your name to elect Democrats who will stand up for seniors and protect Medicare.|
Earlier this week, Republicans hit a new low, Diane. And that's saying something, given the current crop of GOP candidates who are tossing around offensive remarks and their out-of-touch policy ideas at a downright alarming rate.
The suggestion -- made by the Republican candidate for governor in Kentucky -- that America's seniors ought to be drug tested in order to qualify for their Medicare benefits isn't just insulting. It's an affront to everyone who believes in the value of our social safety net.
But before you write this off as one fringe candidate with one offensive idea, remember that this Republican isn't alone. Jeb Bush, for example, wants to "phase out" Medicare altogether. Attacks on Medicare are now part and parcel of the modern GOP platform.
I've said this before, but it bears repeating in moments like this: Enough is enough.
Diane, if you agree that we can't let the GOP attack vital programs like Medicare and Social Security, add your name to say you're committed to electing Democrats up and down the ticket and all across the country in 2016:
Thank you -- together, we can win this.
